At the present time, the majority of my work consists of private commissions. My personal work is
displayed at j rowan galleries, inc. in Lakeland, Florida, and other galleries throughout the central
Florida region .
My passion for art began in mid-life. In the early years, my love was music and my
education was in nursing.  Motherhood then became my focus. After raising three
children with my husband, my creative yearning began.

I began by studying and practicing the techniques of the Masters.  First I studied
drawing, and then turned to painting. Transparent watercolor is my medium of
choice because of the many challenges it presents.  I am a figurative artist and love
the sensitive character of portrait studies.  I work from life to capture that special
personality; however I also use photographs to study the nuisances of color and
shadow without hindrance of time.  I prefer candid images—seeking to grasp just
the right expressions.

Figures are my first love, but I find joy in all living things and love painting plants,
flowers, animals and even those wonderful insects.

I search for the challenge of new techniques, new ideas, and I am always on the
quest for another character study.

Lynne Hughes

"My love of watercolor, with its many challenges, began in 1994.  I enjoy
painting candid, real-life images and strive to transfer my feeling of the subject
to the viewer through layers of color, shadow, and texture.  My quest in the
journey of art is to capture the essence of daily life seen in the inner spirit of
the young and old."
